work and play

Melissa August 24th, 2008

I’m still on holidays but managed to squeeze in a little work at the same time. Only, it wasn’t really work. I spent the day with the infamous (well at least in Bayport) McQuade clan who have been very special friends to my mother and I for many years. Due to a pretty lucky coincedence all bar one family member are visiting at the same time I am- the opportunity to get a family photo was too good to pass up so out came the camera.

Here they are Grandma Lou and Grandpa Jack:

and their gorgeous grandchildren:

I’m on holiday

Melissa August 20th, 2008

Just a quick note to let you know that I have fled the rain and am currently on holiday visiting my family in New York.

I have sporadic access to email/internet so will try to get back to as many emails as possible but I was only able to log on today for the first time so I have a good few to get through.

I will return on the 28th refreshed and ready for action!

Here is a quick little shot of Lily at the beach (taken with the camera Santa gave her last Christmas).

Thank you card photos.

Melissa August 11th, 2008

Just wanted to post an example (or four!) of different designs for thank you card photos. Included in my package for all 2008 couples are 50 6×4 photographs to be included in your own thank you cards. Here is an example of one couple’s choice of photo and four different variations. You can have the photos with or without the names/date on the front. So, without further delay here are the lovely Fiona & John Paul:

Bethanny & Ryan get married in Ireland

Melissa August 1st, 2008

I have been so busy keeping on top of my wedding workload that I haven’t been able to post many wedding entries. I had to take some time out and blog this one though for two reasons: I know that the people involved in this wedding read my blog and secondly, I just had such a brilliant day with them I feel like writing about it.

Disclaimer: I am american and absolutely love working with americans. For me its like a little trip home to hang out with americans for a day- and no jet lag! I particularly enjoyed hanging out with these americans. All in there were fifteen people over for this cozy little fairytale wedding and they were fifteen of the nicest people you will ever meet. They were all exceptionally easy on the camera as well.

The boys started the day with a game of golf in Doolin.

Just loved these Betty Jackson shoes- adorable!

Bethanny’s parents were so sweet together- if they are anything to go by Bethanny and Ryan are going to be extremely happy.

I love this shot of Bethanny and her mother, Laurie- they seem to be doing a happy dance.

Bethanny had such a gorgeous smile- she just beamed!

The ceremony took place in Newtown Tower in Ballyvaughan- a very special and magical place.

Ryan’s parents couldn’t look any prouder of their son.

I just can’t say enough about this wedding and the people involved except to thank you all for including me in such a special and intimate celebration of all of your love for eachother- it was a real privelege.

Shout out to Sinead!

Melissa July 24th, 2008

There are so many things that I like about my job but top of the list is getting to meet such a variety of people. I am a ‘people person’ so it is very satisfying that for at least one day out of the week I get to meet a whole new set of people, get to know them, photograph them and share such a special day with them. A real honour indeed. Every now and then I meet people that I really connect with, Sinead Hayden is defintitlely one of them.

Sinead met me one morning, intending to interview me for the job of being her wedding photographer. The interview lasted about five minutes and then it was just chat and about mutual interests. Ultimately, I turned the tables and ended up interviewing her. You see, Sinead is an extremely talented graphic designer and I was in need of a brand makeover. Those of you who have been acquainted with me for a while will have noticed my lovely new logo complete with matching new business cards and stationary- well these were all designed by Sinead. I’m so glad that Noel proposed to Sinead because if he hadn’t I might not have met Sinead and had the chance to work with her on both my logo/design and their beautiful wedding!

If you are interested in design have a look at Sinead’s website- you’ll be inspired! In the meantime I’d like to share a few photos from Sinead & Noel’s gorgeous day.

I forgot to mention that not content with running a busy graphic design company, Design Bay, and planning a wedding; Sinead (along with Noel) also undertook the building of their first house which is, ofcourse. full of gorgeous details such as these timber sash windows:

and this sweeping staircase:

More evidence of Sinead’s fantastic design:

And finally, the happy couple!

Congratulations to you both and I’ll be over for my coffee and chat in your kitchen any day now :)
